What is the Christmas Masquerade Ball?
We are going on our 10th year of our signature event, the Annual Christmas Masquerade Ball, which is a night full of glitz, glam, and giving! The Ball has been a staple in the River communities since 2009 and is held annually on the first Friday night in December to benefit local families during the holiday season. Every year this event grows larger in the number of people who attend and TIYLO's ability to give to our give to our beneficiaries ~ s
ince 2009, over $50,000 has been raised and distributed to those in need in our river communities!

Our beneficiaries have included the Clayton Christmas Fund, Hearts For Youth, Northern New York Community Foundation (hosting TIYLO's own scholarship program) food pantries in Alexandria Bay, Depauville, and Clayton, and backpack programs serving LaFargeville, Hammond, Carthage, Indian River Lakes, and Thousand Islands School Districts.

These efforts can not be achieved without the long list of local businesses and individuals that support TIYLO annual with sponsorship and silent auction donations, and of course without the support of each and every one of our attendees. We are so grateful for the support we receive from Cape Vincent to Watertown to Hammond, and all points in between, thank you for working with us to support and strengthen our River communities!

Summer Golf Tournament Overview
TIYLO’s Annual Golf Tournament is one of the ways we raise funds to meet our commitment of helping others in need in our river communities. This event was also created to get our members and local supporters together for an event during our coveted summer season. The tournament is 4 man Captain and Crew of 9 holes of golf which includes a golf cart, catered lunch and refreshments. First and second place teams enjoy a cash prize! Third place, Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive (Male and Female) also receive great prizes. It’s a fun day of golf in support of an organization that survives on donations and the generosity of the community members surrounding us! Over the years, TIYLO has been able to establish a scholarship fund
for graduating seniors in the Thousand Islands region, with help from the Northern New York Community Fund. The money raised from the Annual Golf Tournament directly contribute to this fund, to help high school community leaders further their dreams!

How you can help with the Golf Tournament:
  • Become an event Sponsor ~ promote your business
  • Volunteer the day of the event ~ Give back & make connections!
  • Enter the Golf Tournament with your friends & family
  • Follow the event & invite others to Like TIYLO on Facebook

PAST EVENTS & PROJECTS

TIYLO also supports our communities through helping to develop and support community events that can then be sustained and carried on by other community organizations and members.  TIYLO has aided with the development of three major events that are now part of the fabric of our communities, including Project Daffodil, The River Rat Triathlon and Zenda's Community Garden (learn more below). If you have an idea for a community event and would be interested in support in getting your idea off the ground please contact us!

Project Daffodil:
Project Daffodil was developed by TIYLO and area residents in order to simultaneously beautify our community while memorializing all of those who have passed and had made a substantial contribution to our community as a whole.  The event, held in the spring, started as a community planting event where volunteers met and planted daffodils together around the community.  The event has adapted to include a committee of local residents that plant the memorial daffodils throughout the designated areas in the Village of Clayton and provide packaged daffodil bags for community members to plant at home.  TIYLO continues to advertise the event details as it approaches each year.

The River Rat Triathlon:
TIYLO developed the River Rat Triathlon, a major and successful undertaking, to bring a triathlon event to our area in order to encourage athletes within our community and bring non-residents in to our community to experience all we have to offer while raising money for a good cause.  The River Rat Triathlon is now being run to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network.

Zenda Community Garden:
The Zenda Community Garden was developed with the help and support of TIYLO by the Thousand Islands Land Trust (TILT).  The Community Garden allows community members to join a group garden where gardeners work together to select plants, plant, maintain and harvest their produce.  The harvests are divided equally between all of the gardeners with any surplus donated to the Paytner Senior Center in Clayton.   Whether it is a lack of space, time, or know-how, the Zenda Community Garden is the place for those who just can’t do it at home.  After initial TIYLO participation the Garden is well established and run by TILT, signups, through TILT, begin each Spring.
